Project Manager

 

 

Role

 

The Project Manager will provide project management on assigned capital engineering projects.  You will independently plan, coordinate, and execute assigned projects. Monitors work for compliance to applicable codes and standards. Utilizes project management protocols and techniques to plan and effectively execute projects; identifies critical activities to accomplish and formulate action plans, milestones, and resource requirements; monitors project performance and makes necessary adjustments to ensure things stay on track. Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively; deals effectively with a variety of people and situations; appropriately adapts one's thinking or approach as the situation changes; thrives in fast paced environment.

Scope of Responsabilites

 

 

  • Coordinates engineering projects and provides engineering expertise and guidance in planning, financial justification, start-up activities, implementation, process improvements and validation.

  • Create detailed and accurate project schedules and execute projects according to the prescribed Project Management Methodology.

  • Achieve quality, schedule and budget targets on assigned projects.

  • Perform project cost estimating, project controls, to develop and monitor project budgets. Prepare, review and negotiate change orders. Issue change orders to contractors and others and prepare revisions to the project budget.

  • Maintain good working relationship with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers and municipal authorities.

  • Work closely with client customers, lab leads, EH&S, maintenance, space planning and site services.

  • Must work closely with internal and external team members to ensure for a safe work environment for all projects and activities. Responsible for the performance of the contractors in providing a safe jobsite.

  • Provides equipment and utility list, pre-schematic design options and lab layout diagrams.

  • Gains consensus for the optimal solution by effectively organizing and presenting proposals to stakeholders.

  • Prepare and/or review RFPs, bid analyses and make recommendations for contract awards.

  • Oversee preparation and approve documents used for bid, construction drawings, specifications, turnover packages, as-built drawings, and commissioning protocols.

  • Issue contracts and purchase orders after appropriate approvals. Secure properly executed contract and purchase order agreements, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents as required to protect the interests of Client.

  • Monitor or track the review and approval of RFIs and Submittals.

  • Lead or actively participate in project design, contractor and coordination meetings.

  • Identify and resolves issues that may jeopardize project schedules or improve project time. Keep manager fully informed in a timely manner with regard to any and all potential problems on a project.

  • Inspect construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.

  • Update project log weekly with any updates regarding scope, schedule, cost, and action items.

  • Works on moderately complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of various factors.

Requirements

 

  • BA or BS degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in related field. A MA/MBA degree can be substituted for 2 years of related of experience.

  • Must be able to develop solutions to a range of moderately complex problems.

  • Advanced project management skills.

  • Advanced technical engineering skills and experience.

  • Must have extensive experience reading blueprints, drawings and systems specifications.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Effective at multitasking, managing time and prioritizing projects in order to meet established deadlines.
